Buying a Cordless Blower

The biggest decision when buying a cordless leaf blower is whether to use a gas or electric model. Gas blowers are usually louder and more expensive, and produce nearly as many toxic emissions in an hour’s use as an automobile that has driven 100 miles. Cordless electric leaf blowers are just as powerful, quieter, and often less expensive.

The only real benefit of a gas blower over an electric blower is that it is easily refueled, while electric blowers must recharge, a process that can take 30 minutes or more. Therefore most consumers can meet their needs with an electric blower, but some, like professional landscapers, may need a gas-powered model.

There are many brands of blower to choose from. Black and Decker cordless blowers have received middling reviews, but the Leaf Hog is a popular make. Cordless Makita blowers are also good options. The lightweight but powerful Toro Super Blower Vac 51591 has received the best reviews from consumers by far.
