Buying the best Cordless Vacuum |
When searching for the best cordless vacuum to fit your needs there are 2 main factors to keep in mind. The 1st factor is battery-life, i.e. how long you can expect to run your cordless vacuum before its battery needs to be recharged. The 2nd factor is no different than if you were choosing a corded vacuum cleaner: what type of vacuum do you need?
Here are a few options.
- Upright: These are easy to use and store, but are heavier and most are ill-suited to “above floor” cleaning (drapes, floors, etc.)

- Canister: Can’s are versatile, perfect for above floor jobs and have excellent suction airflow and filtration, but are bulky and hard to store.
- Ultra Light Weight: Hand-held models in the 8 lb. range are easy on the arm & good for small jobs in tight places, but are small capacity and don’t filter well.
- Wet/Dry Vacuums: These powerful Shop Vacs can handle heavy-duty work and clean up fluids, but cordless models take a while to recharge.
- Vacuum Sweeper: Also called power-brooms, cordless vacuum sweepers are very light, low-suction uprights that are perfect for bare floors.
- Robots: Just have the robot vacuum the floor while you’re out; the best of these from Robot Roomba are self-charging models with dirt detection.
Dirt Devil cordless vacuums and Shark cordless vacuums have excellent cordless hand held vacuums. Eureka cordless vacuums and Electrolux cordless vacuums are top-notch upright cordless vacuum cleaners. DeWALT cordless vacuums and Black and Decker cordless vacuums are the way to go for cordless vacuum wet dry varieties.
